Do I actually need an app?
Usually not, and we will say so. Most small businesses are better served by a fast website that works on every phone with nothing to install. An app earns its keep when people use you repeatedly — a gym, a salon with regulars, a delivery business — and you need notifications or a loyalty system.
What's the difference between design and building the app?
Design is every screen, decided and drawn: what it looks like, what each button does and what happens when something goes wrong. Building is turning that into working software. We do the design, and we can take the build on or work alongside your developer.
How do you decide what goes in the first version?
By the one job the app has to do. Everything that does not serve that job waits for version two. First versions fail by being too big far more often than by being too small.
Can you work with a developer I already have?
Yes, and it is common. We hand over the design in the form developers actually want — every state drawn, spacing and colours specified, nothing left to guess.
What does app design cost?
More than a website, because there is more of it — every screen and every state has to be drawn. We will also tell you honestly if a good website would do the job for a fraction of it, which for most small businesses it would.
